About Us
Get Smart Schools is the leading nonprofit organization in Colorado dedicated to dramatically increasing the number of new, public, high-quality, autonomous schools serving low-income students. Working with schools, school leaders and potential schools leaders, GSS addresses and provides solutions to the growing local and national crisis of low-performing public schools.
The Get Smart Schools Fellowship, our cornerstone program, is the only leadership program in Colorado dedicated to serving autonomous school leaders. Our highly selective and rigorous training program prepares leaders for the broad range of duties they will assume in autonomous schools. Our goal is for these leaders to emerge from our program highly-qualified to create schools where every student is prepared for success in college and beyond.
Get Smart Schools is also meeting the demand for ongoing leadership support for currently operating schools. Our school services include training and support for business managers, a Board Bank that connects schools with talented, qualified Board candidates, and technical support for schools interested in Innovation status. In addition, GSS is proud to represent the interests and values of autonomous school leaders in various education advocacy platforms in the state of Colorado.
Get Smart Schools receives funding from many generous partners who share our vision and mission of improving the education landscape in Colorado. This support allows GSS to offer our training programs at no cost to participants, encouraging them to focus their efforts on the academic achievement of their schools.It’s time to Get Smart.
