Our Story

Get Smart Schools (GSS) was created in 2008 to address the gap in high-quality leadership for low-performing schools. GSS provides a pipeline of high-quality school leaders who are capable of redesigning schools and creating innovative solutions to difficult challenges.  We have strong partnerships with Denver Public Schools, Aurora Public Schools, and the Sheridan School District. We are launching a three-year project with the Gates Family Foundation and Odyssey Charter School in Denver to help turn around Leadville Public Schools in Lake County.  Since 2012, GSS has doubled the size of the Fellowship Program and tripled the size of the Aspiring Leaders Program while increasing the selectivity of our admissions process.
