Karen Chapman

Karen Chapman is the Administrative Planning Partner for Creativity Challenge Community, a new K-5 performance school opening in DPS, August 2012. Karen is working on all aspects of new school start-up. She has taught at DPS for twenty years. Her work spans literacy, the arts and information literacy. She was an Instructional Specialist for four years supporting arts teachers across the district with professional development in arts integration, data teams for arts teachers, vocabulary development through the arts and understanding New State Standards for implementation of 21st Century Skills. She led a book study on Daniel Pink’s book, A Whole New Mind, focusing on creativity in education. Karen was instrumental in developing a professional learning community for arts teachers and building a network of support for arts teachers across Denver Public Schools.
