Leadership at every level
GSS believes that leadership matters at many levels in a successful school. While our Fellowship program is designed to support school principals, we also value the contributions of board members, business managers, and other leaders in a school community. We have several support services available to these types of leaders.
The GSS Board Bank is a pool of business and community leaders who are highly-qualified and enthusiastic about serving on charter school Boards. GSS recruits, trains and matches these individuals with GSS affiliated school Boards. We welcome inquiries from individuals who wish to join our Board Bank and from schools that are seeking dynamic new Board members.
Recognizing that effective business management is critical to the success of an autonomous school, GSS offers quarterly training sessions to GSS schools’ business leaders. These focused sessions are designed to ensure that business managers remain up-to-date with best practices in school financial management so they can best serve their schools and students. They also provide a forum for business managers to network and build their own community of support.
With the passing of the Innovation Schools Act in 2008, schools now have the opportunity to receive certain autonomies from the district that gives them building-level control over their programs, people, time and resources to better serve their students. Get Smart Schools understands the challenges facing existing and developing innovation schools and has developed a consortium of resources to meet the needs of these schools.
Get Smart Schools continuously works to advocate for conditions that reflect our passion for high-quality, autonomous schools that are focused on student achievement. We work to improve those conditions by supporting various advocacy initiatives that correspond with our mission and vision. Why? Because we believe that Colorado kids are worth fighting for and deserve more.
